What "released openly" actually means

NEST4All exists to fund the missing layer of nutrition and sustainability innovation for programmes that already feed hundreds of millions of people. Capital that buys a public good has to produce something the public can inspect, copy and procure against. This page states exactly what we publish, when, and under which licence, so a funder can verify the claim before writing a cheque.

What we release

Everything needed to reproduce the nutrition outcome

Each item below is published for every technology track we take through validation, not only the ones that succeed.

Formulations and specifications

Ingredient composition, inclusion rates, protein and micronutrient targets, and the finished specification for every format we validate in school meal and Anganwadi-linked settings.

Process and kitchen protocols

Batch sizes, mixing and cooking steps, holding times, heat-stability limits and the standard operating procedures used by partner kitchens, written so another kitchen can repeat them.

Analytical and lab data

Third-party and partner laboratory reports behind our claims: proximate analysis, amino acid profile, micronutrient assay, contaminant and microbiology panels, shelf-life study data.

Validation study design and results

Pre-registered study design, sample sizes, measurement instruments, acceptance and consumption data, and the full result set, including null and negative results.

Cost models and sustainability footprint

Per-beneficiary-day costing at pilot and state scale, procurement assumptions, and the greenhouse gas, land and water footprint calculations with their sources.

Evidence packs for government adoption

The tender-ready specification, cost model and evidence summary a state department can procure against, released in full rather than shared privately.

Licence and timing

Free to use, attribute the source

Licence

Documents, data and protocols are released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). Governments, NGOs and companies may use, adapt and build on them commercially, with attribution. No field-of-use restriction, no licence fee.

Timing

Specifications and protocols are published as each workstream closes. Validation data is published within 90 days of the last data point, whatever the result. No funder holds an embargo beyond that window.

Funder rights

Funders receive quarterly data and early sight of results, and are named in the evidence pack. They do not receive exclusivity, veto over publication, or the right to suppress an unfavourable finding.

What we do not publish

The three limits, stated plainly

  • Personal data of any beneficiary, child, parent, teacher or kitchen worker. Study data is published only in aggregate or de-identified form.
  • Manufacturing trade secrets owned by our technology partner that sit upstream of the specification, for example proprietary strain and bioprocess know-how. What we release is enough to reproduce the nutrition outcome through commercially available supply.
  • Commercially confidential pricing of third parties, and any material a partner is contractually barred from disclosing. Where a constraint exists, we state it in the release rather than staying silent.
